Rockware Glass Cup Section Two
THISTLE suffered their fourth defeat of the season at the hands of a Winton side who kept alive their hopes of making the quarter finals.
In four minutes a corner from Daniel Connelly into the box was turned home by John "Hoots" Harvey.
Back at the other end Paddy Nimmo played a long ball from midfield to Michael Mullin who from 16 yards took a shot at goal but shot wide.
In 16 minutes a well worked corner by Robert Workman set Joe Creamer up for a diving header which the referee judged to be offside.
Then in 24 minutes a run by William Easton set up Ross Haliday to side step Ardeer keeper Colin Traynor and stick the ball into an empty net to make it 2-0 with Ardrossan in total command of the match.
After the break Ardeer came out the better team with runs from Stewart Boyd and Joe Creamer causing the Winton defence problems.
Then in 67 minutes a well worked free kick by co-player boss Dominic Booth was turned home by Joe Creamer.
With 20 minutes remaining Ardeer let things slip and Winton won the ball in midfield which then gave Winton their third goal.
Ardeer, who were the better side in the second half tried in vain to get back into the match but it wasn't enough.
