WINTON got out of jail in this match after surrendering a 3-0 half time lead.
The visitors showed first after eight minutes when a long corner kick on the right came to Graeme Muir and he slotted in a low drive which was fumbled by young Girvan goalkeeper Jonathan Lopez and went out for another corner.
A minute later Scott Crawford hit a 35 yard free kick which was only parried by Lopez and Muir's follow up effort was cleared off the line
Winton did take the lead in 20 minutes when another corner on the right flew to Muir at the back post and he put in an inch perfect cross to Douglas Johnstone who rose at the back post and headed the ball back across the keeper and into the net.
Winton went 2-0 up minute later when an attempted clearance from Lopez cannoned off Scott Weir and he raced in and although they clashed Weir still managed to react the quicker and tuck the ball home.
John Redmond's troops further increased their lead on the half hour when Weir put Clelland through in the inside right position and he rounded the keeper and stroked the ball home from the tightest of angles.
Girvan came out in the second half all guns blazing whilst Winton must have assumed the game was over and it showed after 58 minutes when Girvan got a goal back. O'Donnell met a cross on the right and put in a powerful header that Robertson could only parry and whilst everyone stood back and admired the Winton keeper's save O'Donnell followed up and forced the loose ball home.
On the hour it was 3-2 when a long free kick from Roberts was saved by Robertson but the ball came to Darren Mitchell and he turned and shot low into the corner to put Winton really on the back foot.
In 74 minutes Girvan pegged Winton back when Willie Govan put in a dangerous low cross towards the near post and Mitchell again was on hand to hammer the ball home.
Winton had made a couple of substitutes which proved to be telling in the end however with Cuthbert on for Muir and Hoots Harvey on for Brown.
In 79 minutes Winton snatched the lead back when Cuthbert put in a great diagonal cross from the left which saw Lopez and Clelland challenge for it and the loose ball came to Harvey and his cross was headed gleefully home by Ross Halliday.
