WINTON bounced back fromtheir exit from the Scottish Junior Cup last week with a good victory against a much improved Darvel side.
It took the visitors five minutes to open their account when Mark McCann's looping cross was met at the back post by Graeme Muir to head in.
Darvel got back on level terms on 12 minutes after sustained pressure when Rankin was upended in the box by John Boothman and Paul Gilroy scored in off the post.
Winton regained the lead on 37 minutes when Hoot Harvey ran through and used his experience to go round the keeper and score from the angle.
Winton extended their lead two minutes later when Clelland sent Harvey clear again and this time beat the keeper with a low drive.
Winton kept creating chances but Darvel were not out of it and in injury time Craig Gilroy scored a consolation goal.
