North Ayrshire Cup - Quarter Final
HEROIC goalkeeper Stuart Robertson saved two penalty kicks as Winton edged out their bitter rivals in a shootout to advance to the semi finals.
Rovers took the lead in only five minutes as Scott Crawford sent home a low drive from 18 yards. They doubled their advantage in 25 minutes, Mark McCann netting with a wind assisted corner kick.
Scott Weir had a chance to put the result beyond doubt on the half hour but his 25 yard rocket crashed off the post.
Vics pulled a goal back in 59 minutes, Tam McClelland heading home a corner kick. Two minutes later it was all square when Simon Eeles lashed home a 25 yard drive.
Into the shootout and Hoots Harvey, Clelland and McCann netted their penalties for Winton with visiting keeper Stuart Robertson saving the second and third kicks from Vics.
Graeme Muir had his effort saved for Winton before Crawford nailed the final spot kick to send Winton through.
