WINTON slumped to a disappointing home defeat in a match they should have won.
But they were left cursing more than their luck after a bad refereeing decision allowed Craigmark's winner to stand despite offside claims from the home side.
The first real chance of the game fell to Ross Fraser but sharp reactions from Douglas in the Craigmark goal denied him a good opportunity.
Winton had the better of the play for the first 20 minutes but could not convert any chances into goals.
Craigmark came more and more into the game as the half hour approached and Shankland broke through the home defence to shoot. McGoogan blocked the shot but it fell to Grosart who was denied a great chance, with the keeper on the ground, by Easton's challenge.
A minute later Shankland again was causing trouble in the Winton box but his shot from 10 yards went wide. Most of the rest of the first period was played out in the Winton half as they soaked up Craigmark pressure.
The visitors missed yet another chance to open the scoring when Grosart fired a good pass from Gibson just over the bar with McGoogan beaten.
Winton's only reply was a long range effort from Taggart that slipped past the post just before the break.
A scrappy restart saw Winton's Crawford and Craigmark's Holland booked fro separate incidents.
Henderson came on for Winton to replace Fraser. The home side's best chance to open the scoring came on the hour mark when keeper Douglas parried a shot from Scott Clelland only as far as Sean Quinn but his effort was blocked too.
Craigmark broke the deadlock 15 minutes from time when Shankland, one of three Craigmark players in offside positions, ran on to a through ball and rounded the helpless McGoogan to slot the ball home.
The home side tried to get back into the game but their few remaining chances were well dealt with by the visitors defence.
In the last minute Crawford had the opportunity to level the score and snatch a point when a Quinn corner fell well for him in the box, but his shot went over the bar.
