Stagecoach Ayrshire District League
TITLE favourites Meadow blasted three second half goals against an understrength Winton side to register their second successive league victory.
Winton were missing eight players going into this vital clash with the league high flyers, who took only six minutes to bag a gift wrapped opener.
John Gallagher hit a hopeful cross in from the left but to the astonishment of a healthy crowd at Winton Park, the ball was bizarrely left by both the defence and the goalkeeper and nestled in the corner of the net.
Stuart Robertson managed to clear a shot from Gallagher but Winton rallied and Sean Quinn put a nice ball into Ross Fraser whose shot was well saved at full length by Wardrope.
Meadow looked a bit disjointed with no real fluency to their play and this resulted in only the odd free kick and efforts from distance not troubling the goalkeeper.
Before the interval there was a series of efforts on goal that could have changed the complexion of the game.
Winton scrambled an effort off the line before Ryan Davidson missed a sitter at the back post.
Then just before the whistle blew home player Quinn missed the best chance of the game that could have put the sides level at half time.
Winton were still in the game and a good move involving a pass from Quinn to set Fraser free on the left saw the Winton striker send in a good cross for Shanks to try a diving header but it was straight at Wardrope.
In 59 minutes Meadow passed up a great chance to go further ahead when John McDonald cut the ball back to Davidson ut his shot was saved by the legs of Robertson.
Winton lived dangerously after this when McDonald went close again and in 67 minutes Scott Crawford hit a low drive from distance that had Wardrope scrambling across his goal to save at full length.
Irvine Meadow took heart from the let off and a minutes later Charlie Adams ran down the right channel to cross the ball from the touchline and Kevin Robison scored at the back post.
Two minutes later it was three and again it was in bizarre circumstances when a pass out from defence was collected by Robison and from the halfway line he spotted Robertson well off his goal line and he promptly struck the ball over the Winton Keeper and into the net.
Winton's misery continued when in the last 10 minutes they found themselves down to 10 men after Wilson was handed his second yellow card.
Fraser almost got a consolation with a good run and shot but it was Kenny Gillies who got the final say in 89 minutes when he met a loose ball in the box and dispatched a low shot into the corner of the net.
