BEITH undoubtedly deserved to win this encounter which was closer than the scoreline suggests.
Visiting keeper Johnstone blocked a netbound Marc McShane header early on.
The opener came in 13 minutes when Ian McEwan netted from the edge of the box.
Weaver and McAvoy missed chances for Winton and the former's shot crashed off the post.
Just before the break Charlie Hobbs tucked home.
Any hopes of a fightback were quashed a few minutes after the restart. Charlie Hobbs found MacNiven to head home. Kevin Deeney then skilfully lobbed Johnstone.
Sean Quinn pulled a goal back for Winton from a free-kick.
Debut boy Stevie Convery opened his account, sliding home and Martin McGarvey netted a minute later.
The game was held up for several minutes while home striker McEwan was carried off with a serious looking knee injury following an accidental clash with the Winton keeper.
Winton pulled a second back when Weaver netted from the edge of the area. McGarvey then nodded home before a Houston cross landed in the top corner.
