FIVE-STAR Rovers got back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Darvel whom they had not beaten for four years at Winton Park.
It took 11 minutes to see the first action when a short corner from Muir fed Quin who put in a low drive that Lopez saved well at the near post. Darvel's first effort came on 17 minutes when Kevin Barclay hit a shot from the edge of the box but was wide.
Stephen O'Neill was called into action on 20 minutes when a high ball was missed by Black and McMillan ran through but was thwarted by Winton's new signing.
A minute later Winton came close with a nice through ball by Collins fed McAvoy and he cut in to shoot low in at the near post but Lopez saved well. From the resultant corner Easton headed just over.
Chalmers missed a good chance on 36 minutes when he was put through by Collins and with only the keeper to beat, shot wide.
Chalmers was not to be denied when he managed to show a bit of composure in the Darvel box after a bit of a scramble and back heel the ball across the goal and into the net for Winton to take the lead.
Chalmers got Winton's second on 40 minutes when Scott Crawford popped up on the left and put in a delightful ball that Chalmers headed past Lopez into the far corner.
McGarry came close on 43 minutes with a low hit free kick from the edge of the box.
Minutes later Winton came close when Quinn set up Chalmers on the burst and the ball fell to Muir who hooked the ball off the post. Winton went further ahead on 65 minutes when Walker set up Quinn down the left and he cut to the bye line and crossed the ball that was just behind Stephen McAvoy but he managed to adjust and hook the ball home.
On 71 minutes Winton went 4-0 up when McAvoy got free on the left and sent a cross into Graham Muir who hammered home the volley from the edge of the box.
Quinn had a couple of chances after this when he got free but the keeper did well to smother the ball at the feet of the Winton striker.
Darvel only threatened occasionally on the break but on 81 minutes William Ferguson got free but his effort was well blocked by O'neill in the Winton goal.
On 85 minutes Winton made it nap when McAvoy got clear and went one on one with Lopez and tucked the ball neatly under him to seal a good victory for Winton.
