Cameras Aim to Beat the Vandals

WINTON Rovers have upped their game this week by installing state of the art digital CCTV cameras within the grounds in a bid to prevent spates of vandalism.

The new cameras will be used during the night and day and all footage will be stored digitally on a hard drive so any would be vandals will be captured.

The new system is all thanks to local security firm Invincible Fire and Security who approached the club earlier this year and offered to donate the cameras to the club to help prevent vandals attacking the football ground.

Managing director of Winton, Roger Woods said "The cameras are mainly a deterrent, but should someone enter the grounds they will be recorded. The committee are committed to improving the club grounds, not only for the team but alos for the benefit of the local area which it is hoped will be used much more to provide fetes or other events for the people of Ardrossan."

"Due to the neglect and decline of the football pitch over the past years the kids have used it as a hang out. Now that we are spending money and improving the facilities we hope the kids will respect the ground and see it as part of the community."

"We see this as a turning point in the clubs future and hope our efforts are appreciated in the community. We would encourage everyone to attend football matches at the grounds and also look out for planned events which we hope to organise."

"The next phase of work is to upgrade the stand and return it to its former glory, so watch this space."
