Ardrossan Winton Rovers
Welcome to Winton
Rovers invite the community to use club's facilities
RESIDENTS and people working in Ardrossan are being encouraged to take advantage of an unusual offer by Winton Rovers.
The club, that has got off to a flyer in the Ardagh Glass Sectional League cup, is opening its doors and putting the ground at the disposal of people as a community asset.
They plan to make the ground, Winton Park on Winton Street, community friendly by initially opening up at lunchtimes twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays between noon and 2pm.
Chairman Dougie Rae said "It makes sense to have the ground used on a constant basis rather than for 20 matches over the course of a season and lying empty the rest of the time."
"We are already part of the community but by doing this we will become an even bigger part and let people come in for keep-fit, jogging in a safe environment and enjoy shower facilities to freshen up afterwards."
Dougie explained that the ground will open more as demand increases during the week, as well as offering a match-day hospitality package for games at Winton Park.
He said "We want people to be at the ground before and after a match and enjoy a drink and snack in a relaxed atmosphere and hopefully be impressed by the football on the park as well as the hospitality off it."
Contact the club on a Monday or Thursday and find out about the keep-fit facilities available, or alternatively get along to Winton Park when the team are at home - also at the club's official website www.wintonrovers.ik.com
